‘Incognito’ - Collage on Wood Panel 2010
Another one I did for ‘The Drip’ coffeehouse. I guess what I was getting at with this one was sort of a ‘what’s behind the suit/mask/facade we all wear in public?’ sorta deal.
As an artist, I’m way more comfortable with asking questions or criticizing than I am with giving answers or offering alternate solutions so I make no attempt to answer my own question here. In fact, one might argue that the lack of an answer to the facade question actually makes an appeal to everyone on a personal level which would not be reached by revealing who someone might be when they are removed from their self-made image. So with this is mind, the I-block represents everyone’s base id stripped away from their ego.
Or maybe I just like playing with images. I could have just as easily made his head a cheeseburger.
