The humble bus stop must have been left out of the Soviet Union’s plans to unify and brutify everything. The 20 featured here convey a multiplicity of cultures.

Of course they’re a world away from the lavishness, pride and prestige of the Moscow Metro (see next post down); these are out in the sticks.
And abandoned.

From 6 till 8.30 tonight we had a stopwork meeting and decided to refuse to use typewriters till the firm supplies them — everything is now in handwriting to slow down production.

PF rang and we discussed our latest spiritual experiences.Last night he and PO contacted NAPOLEON.
PF and I have both found our spirits going to “Q” all the time when we talk of PO — and this probably means queer or queen. PO finds girls so dull.

I wish he’d give me a chance.

I wore a cool new little black sexy dress today and everyone was crazy over it. Made my body look really beautiful.

I must have another seance tomorrow. It’s so real, man.
I think I might be able to get to God through this. Man, imagine that.

Another part of the seance story.
I decided to try it on my own. It was incredible.
A Danish guy called Zakarthz said I could become a successful journalist.
He said I will go to London but not for five years or more and when I said thank you to him he replied “Sepsis for your attention”.
He was aged 41 and died of “jepon” or something.

I really dug Saturday night.
All three of us got something from it.
PO said to PF, “Hey, she writes poetry”.
PF said to PO, “Actually she thinks the right way, just like us”.
And for PO to think you’re interesting is cool, cos he thinks girls are so dull and stupid.

There was something direct and total that went through me just before our seance as PO sat at one end of the table in his little gold glasses and I at the other.
Our eyes met and for some strange reason I couldn’t take it — I had to look away cos I was overwhelmed.

Levity, a huge collection of alchemical images, is a wondrous place to explore and get lost in.

Tonight has been out of sight.
Went to a concert at the Civic and after all the gear was packed up we all went to the motel where the Loving Memory were staying, and my friends and I sat for hours having a fantastic talk.
PO and PF are really close. They communicate directly in their pla and songwriting.

We split for their practice rooms about 1.30.
Some other cats from the Dunedin band were already there looking for a scene and we all listened to Yes.

Then when the other cats split we had a seance. We tried three times before a spirit came.
And man when it did it was out of sight. His name was George, he was 74. He spelt out all our names and ages perfectly.
PF got bad news about his old girlfriend, and was worried about it.
Are you a good spirit? he asked — and it drove the glass straight to “no”.
Are you a bad spirit? — and it raced to “yes”.
So we ended it.

Got home about 3am and kicked cans onto the road as I scrambled from the car. They echoed through the street and woke Mum, who wasn’t very happy. She’s certain I’m a groupie.

I dig PF and I like PO — he’s so beautiful and deep.
Fuck G for a while, I feel something real with P.

Now i’ve been happy lately, thinking about the good things to come
And i believe it could be, something good has begun

Oh i’ve been smiling lately, dreaming about the world as one
And i believe it could be, some day it’s going to come

Cause out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train
Oh peace train take this country, come take me home again

Now i’ve been smiling lately, thinking about the good things to come
And i believe it could be, something good has begun

Oh peace train sounding louder
Glide on the peace train
Come on now peace train
Yes, peace train holy roller

Everyone jump upon the peace train
Come on now peace train

Get your bags together, go bring your good friends too
Cause it’s getting nearer, it soon will be with you

Now come and join the living, it’s not so far from you
And it’s getting nearer, soon it will all be true

Now i’ve been crying lately, thinking about the world as it is
Why must we go on hating, why can’t we live in bliss

Cause out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train
Oh peace train take this country, come take me home again

I have never

… seen a Clay Bennett cartoon I didn’t like
… heard a Cat Stevens song I didn’t like
… seen a peace sign I didn’t like
… seen a peace train — but we can live in hope

Peace.
