Cities and towns I have loved

In no order except as they occurred to me …

1 Venice
2 London
3 Zagreb
4 Santa Barbara
5 Wellington, New Zealand
6 Kuala Lumpur
7 Jerusalem (old city)
8 Vancouver
9 Banff
10 Corfu
11 Bayreuth
12 Bern
13 San Antonio
14 Savanna
15 Sydney
16 Quebec (old city)
17 Philadelphia
18 Ubud, Bali

I wanted to limit the list to 15 but couldn’t get it down without dumping a place I think of fondly

A note to the idle Tumblr looking at this:

The more of them you tick, the more we have in common on aesthetics, values and personal experiences!

(Travel has been a great love of mine, and I could list another 18 cities I would love to visit and will maybe never see)

PS
HOW DID I MISS OUT ROME?

Tks, Stumbot!

Faces, ugly and beautiful

I have this book of larger than life-size portaits by Martin Schoeller, most of them of celebrities and politicians.

All well-known faces, though it took me a few moments to place some as they are never seen as starkly as this elsewhere — with the camera square-on to them and forbidden to smile or perform!

It is striking to me that even the most conventionally beautiful faces can be lopsided and flawed-looking, seen at such close range.

Someone take him home please. I prefer a dog that can be taken seriously.

Tickets arrived for John Mayall . . .

There are two new cats out the back at work.
One is a long-haired British guy who looks so beautifully interesting.
Really vague and dim-looking but he has hypnotic eyes.
He’s far out, man, but I can dig that most people would think he’s really drippy. I hear he’s married.

Then there’s this woman-hater who’s just spent two years fighting for Australia in Vietnam. Seems a nice person and I like that woman-hater bit.
I’d love to be the first woman a woman-hater loved.

Tickets arrived for John Mayall and we’ve got SECOND ROW, man. This really is going to be THE moment in my life, this concert.
