I'm back -- are you?

As usual, I seem to have been the last one to know.

I wondered why I’d been feeling so deadbeat these past few months; thought it was just the humidity getting me down — until I stumbled upon my own gravestone adorned with the words:

A precious one from us is gone
A voice we loved is stil ed
A place is vacant in our ho e
That never can be f lled

Year 6 poetry at best, but never mind — what about the missing letters? Is there a hidden meaning there or was it just common or garden grave robbers at work? Of what value were L, M and I to them?

Well, I will leave you to ponder that while I concentrate on getting myself brushed off and breathing again.

No need to weep for me, ladies and gentlemen; I am certain I will make a full recovery from this petit mort because it is patently clear some of you need me back in the classroom!
At least two of our girls got into a lot of trouble during the holidays without something to keep them focused. I deeply regret now that I was not there to give them guidance, and look forward to working with them again. They know who they are.

Btw, what do you think about the beard I cultivated over the holidays? Like?

Talk to me!

Also let me know if you have some special interests you’d like us to take up in the coming weeks. I am all for a good project and to hell with the curriculum.

— Best wishes and warm greetings, Sam Pickett
