Some people start the year with a party . . .

… others start with earnest resolutions.

Me, I started mine in a characteristically studious manner, by becoming better acquainted with CSS and HTML.

So, as a compulsive tinkerer and real fun party type, I am sitting here considering several options regarding the look of the page you’re reading.

What do you think about bright yellow?

OK, OK, not all my ideas are that shocking; some are quite subtle, in fact … but I do have a few outfits to try on for size. So if you’re looking at something that looks like a mistake on here right now and thinking WTF, Jude, you’ll know I’m experimenting. Because I can!

I have to admit I’m not that into posting pictures and pictures and more pictures, or viewing Tumblelogs that consist of yet more pictures w/o SOME sustenance or context, and actually Tumblr gives us the tools to do a lot more.

The chance to study code and learn by doing is one of the more useful pleasures to me, and I get a real kick out of seeing the more unique sites created by artists and designers.

A Happy New Year to you, Tumblr, for providing a vehicle for some very talented people!

The other real pleasure for me is seeing so many people I know — all friends from StumbleUpon — so busy on here.

It feels more active and intriguing than SU, since people are forced to express themselves via the blog. It feels more like a game, and is wonderfully hassle-free.

So happy Tumbling in 2010 to you too, my friends

Jude

PS Sorry for what you may see in the next couple of hours. Could be ugly till it settles down …
